NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS

SURFACE WATER TREATMENT TECNIQUE

NON-ACUTE VIOLATION

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) sets minimum water quality standards for public drinking water.  These standards include enforceable treatment technique requirements for drinking water.  Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms.  These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.

Kingsland Water Supply Corporation, PWS ID TX1500012, failed to meet the minimum treatment technique requirements for the month of January 2024. Specifically, our water system had “Low Disinfection Contact Time (CT) for more than four consecutive hours” from January 15 through January 22, 2024, through the water treatment plant.

This was caused by the freezing temperatures that occurred in the area for several consecutive days which resulted in many leaks throughout the distribution and in customer homes which caused increased demand on our plant to ensure that there were no water outages to customers.  Kingsland Water Supply Corporation did maintain the above adequate disinfection residuals through the distribution system during this period of time.

If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact Leonard Leinfelder at 325-388-6611.
