Kingsland Water Supply Corporation (KWSC) is a member-owned, nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation established under Texas law to provide water to its members. KWSC is governed by a Board of Directors made up of five members who are elected by you. This year there will be no election as the only applications for director were received from the incumbents Place 1 Danny Stone and Place 2 Charles Miller.
Our January Annual Meeting, which will be held January 14, 2020 at the Kingsland Water Supply Corporation office at 7:00 PM, where you are encouraged and welcome to participate.
Your Board of Directors meets monthly in the corporation office on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM, and you are welcome to attend these meetings. The Board has full authority under the By-laws to conduct all KWSC business. The Board establishes policies, approves budgets and sets the rates charged for services. The Board uses its resources as they deem necessary to provide information to assist them in making those decisions and planning for future growth.
Day-to-day operations are the responsibility of our General Manager, Leonard Leinfelder, who is hired by the Board. He supervises and directs the employees in carrying out the policies set by the Board and, most importantly, the performance of all the tasks involved in providing safe water services to the KWSC service area. Leonard can be contacted at the corporation office during its normal business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, except for certain specified holidays.
We are extremely proud of the voluntary contributions that many of you make on your water bill each month to the Kingsland VFD, which in the fiscal year Oct. 1, 2018 – September 30, 2019, totaled $23,812.00. The contributions from those being served by the Hoover Valley VFD during the same period were $953.49. Our thanks are extended to all members who contribute to these important public services.
Kingsland is growing, with 120 new connections, more than twice the amount of new connections of this reporting period for last year. We continue to focus on controlling our costs while maintaining expected levels of safe water delivery and service to you, and charging the lowest water rate of any other water utility in the area. In the past fiscal year we delivered approximately 248 million gallons of water. Our dedicated employees worked around the clock to provide uninterrupted service to you. We are thankful to have such dedicated employees and customers. We hope you will never hesitate to contact KWSC with any questions, comments, or suggestions.
Staff has worked through the year with FEMA on covering some of the losses due to the flood of 2018.
On behalf of the employees and Board of Directors, we want to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous 2019.
Danny Stone, President
Kingsland Water Supply Corporation
